With 33 Arrests Made, Oxford Police Department Stayed More Than Busy This Past Weekend

Crime ReportOxford police responded to the following calls: Seven alarms, seven welfare concerns 12 suspicious activities, 18 disturbances, two petit larcenies, nine reported intoxicated drivers, three fire dept. assists, two ambulance assist, three noise complaints, eight illegally parked cars, two house burglaries, malicious mischief, motor assist, civil matter, two scams, phone harassment, counterfeit money, animal complaint, simple assault, trespassing, credit card fraud, 911 hang up, three burglaries-Hwy 6 West, Recovered Property.
Oxford police investigated 21 wrecks, issued 85 traffic citations and made arrests on the following charges:

3 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
2 Simple Assaults
Public Intoxication & Shoplifting
DUI
8 Public Intoxications
Warrant Served
Speeding, No Insurance & DUI
Public Intoxication, Disturbing the Peace, Resisting Arrest & Fake ID

Careless Driving, No Driver’s License, No Insurance & DUI

Lafayette Sheriff’s Department responded to the following incidents: accident, seven alarms, two animal complaints, 13 disturbances, two harassment, 16 service calls, six suspicious activity, welfare concerns, two transport, seven civil matters, two structure fire, three traffic complaints, credit card fraud.
Lafayette Sheriff’s department made seven arrests
suspended driver’s license, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest
three suspended driver’s license
trespassing warrant
contempt warrant
suspended driver’s license, no insurance
Oxford Fire Department
Pressure washing the garage activated a smoke detector at Chancellor House Hotel.
Cooking activated a smoke detector at Northgate  204A.
Discharging a fire extinguisher prank at Kappa Sigma house 2nd floor.
Vehicle fire in the driver side wheel/ brake area – FD extinguished the fire at Hwy 7 North.
People stuck in elevator at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Smoke detector malfunction at Phi Kappa Psi house rm. #101.
Wreck with entrapment Hwy. 7 / Ridgewood Manor area.
A canceled call for Baptist Memorial Hospital.
University Police
Officers made 15 vehicle stops.
Three service calls for a suspicious person.
Possession of alcohol at Stewart hall.
Public drunk at Residence hall.
Seven Possession of drugs.
