Manager Of The Links In Oxford Trashes Apartment, Video Goes Viral

Published

on

Friday night, Jan. 13, property manager of the Links Apartments in Oxford, Mississippi, supposedly barged into the apartment of a group of Ole Miss law students, and the end result was not pleasant.

One student, Ashley Walter, turned to social media to express her side of the story.
See video below: (Warning: explicit language)

Walter said the group of friends went to the apartment to eat, drink and play trivia. Although music was playing in the background, she said the volume was low enough for the friends to talk to each other. However, the property manager called the Oxford Police Department to report a noise complaint.
“It was 10 o’clock, so people were leaving… That’s when she [the property manager] actually busted into the apartment and just started yelling and cursing,” Walter said.  “We were so in shock because we had no idea who she was, what was happening.”
Walter said the friends immediately started stepping out of the apartment until some noticed how terrified the tenant was by the manager’s irate behavior.
“From there, she cusses him out, which you can see that in the video,” Walter said. “And that’s not everything… that’s the moment I realized, ‘Okay, I need to record this.'”
Walter took it upon herself to ask the manager what was wrong and why she was behaving that way. However, the manager’s response did not sit well with Walter.
“She wouldn’t answer my questions. She started walking toward me telling me to leave, and I said, ‘Okay, I have everything on video,'” Walter said. “That’s when she became angry, and she pushed me. We have another video where you can hear me saying, ‘Don’t touch me. Don’t touch me.’ And, that’s when I called 9-1-1.”
When the police arrived, little did Walter know that they were responding to the call placed by the property manager. The police began questioning the group of friends in the apartment until Walter told one of the officers she had a video.
“That’s when one of the officers said, ‘Well, can I see the video?’ And, I showed him, and that’s when he realized that we did not do anything wrong,” Walter said.
Walter said after posting the video on social media, she has been amazed at the comments that have filled the post from people who have had similar experiences.
“A lady commented that she did the same thing to them on Monday,” Walter said. “This is something that has been going on but has been continuously dismissed by their corporate office because no one has ever had video. It’s always been ‘he said, she said.’ But this time, we happened to get it on video, and I think that’s what it took because corporate has been sweeping all of this under the rug.”
Caught by surprise, Walter added, “I know that The Links at Bama [Tuscaloosa] has a great reputation, but it seems it’s just not the same at this property.”
The Oxford Police Department is actively investigating the case.
A representative from The Links confirmed the manager is no longer employed; however,  The Links would provide no further comment at this time.

I was the first tenant in my apartment at The Links, I remember watching the construction and actually checked in on the construction several times while it was ongoing because we already knew which apartment would be ours. We never had a problem with the Management at that time, obviously at some point in time the management changed to this Unstable Individual. I am glad that the students were quick enough to catch this erratic behavior on video and I hope that she is criminally charged…

I am quite happy to see her fired. She is a rude and hateful person, who has no right being a landlord.
I was looking at the apartments a few years ago, and I asked about bringing my disability pet. I was quickly, and rudely denied, and then told that my disability was fake and that I needed to grow up. Needless to say, I promptly walked out, and never looked back.

The manager should be arrested and charged with breaking and entering and destruction of property, at a minimum. A landlord does not have the right to enter a rental without consent of the renter.

The links/the greens at Bama is just as bad! Everything gets swept under the rug by corporate! I’m a former employee, and was treated like crap and fired. I’ve witness the current property manager at the greens racially profile prospects and residents, AFTER SHE HAD AN “INCIDENT” AT HER PREVIOUS PROPERTY IN AUBURN AL(for saying the “n” word, corprate just moved her to Tuscaloosa. Way to go Lindsey Management!! Smh.

Debbie Pastor at the links has a long history of this. She fraudulently forged my signature to some papers and falsely tried to turn me over to collection agency to ruin my credit. Even though I had records of paying on time every time and pictures of my apartment before and after my lease. When I told her this she started falsely reporting police to watch my apartment and one time I came home to find out police had ravaged through all my stuff. Their response was “we were looking for the wrong person”. Come to find out it was Debbie Pastor who did this. Suffice to say, she was also doing some shady stuff with tenants contracts, to profit more from keeping deposits. She had a little scheme. The more people she could evict and higher turnover meant the more money she could get per apartment per year. Hence why she kept everyone’s deposits and falsely charged for repairs. FINALLY, glad someone caught this on camera because she’s been doing it for years. Now that I think about it, she is probably more involved than anyone thinks with all the thefts and break-ins that suspiciously happen when no one is watching. I know I had equipment come up missing that was IN my apartment, and there were several vehicular break-ins at that time. I hope she gets investigated beyond this and they throw the book at her for every single person this has happened to over the years. Also Lindsey management acted like they were going to do something, then spoke with her, and she flat and straight faced fabricated a story, so they swept it under rug.

Debbie Pastor treated myself, my wife and my daughter like royalty every time we stayed at the links visiting our daughter. She went out of her way to make us comfortable. We love her like family and can’t believe she wasn’t ill or provoked or both. We are a black family from Michigan and had our own ideas about mississippi (not good) but Debbie changed our minds about the state for the better. I hope she is well and I hope she can put this behind her and move on to a positive happy productve life.
