Three-Day Weekend Leads To High Number Of Arrests

Crime ReportOxford police responded to the following calls: Thirteen alarms, two suspicious vehicles, nine improper parking, eight welfare concerns, 17 suspicious activities, larceny, two civil matters, three harassing phone calls, three malicious mischief, seven reported DUI, nine disturbing the peace, two reports of lost property, two credit card fraud, harassment, two fire department assist, two domestic (disturbance), ambulance assist, recovered property, four suspicious persons, two scams, vehicle burglary (Hwy 278 West), 911 hang-up, other agency assist.
Oxford police investigated sixteen wrecks, issued 63 traffic citations and made arrests on the following charges:
Public Drunk and Possession of a Schedule IV Drug
Minor in Possession of Alcohol
Speeding, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Possession of a Fake ID and Public Drunk
Disorderly Conduct – Failure to Comply With Law Enforcement Officer and DUI
Careless Driving, Minor in Possession of Alcohol and DUI
DUI
Speeding, Seatbelt Violation and No Driving License
Seatbelt and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
No Driving License and DUI (wreck)
Public Drunk, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Minor in Possession of Alcohol and Open Container
Careless Driving, Expired Tag and DUI
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Careless Driving, No Headlights, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and DUI
Lafayette Sheriff’s Department responded to the following incidents: seven accidents, simple assault, three alarms, four animal complaints, residential burglary (CR 401), 20 disturbances, two domestic violence, petit larceny, three harassment, juvenile complaint, three malicious mischief, 16 service calls, seven suspicious activities, eight welfare concerns, three transports, nine civil matters, two traffic complaints, traffic detail, three hunting complaints.
Lafayette Sheriff’s department made four arrests

child support warrant, aggravated assault, contempt warrant

Friday 13
Workers activated a smoke detector at the Insight Park
A heat attic smoke detector malfunction at North Residential College.
A truck rolled down embankment trapping driver – rescue extricated driver on Molly Bar Road
A 4 wheeler in bed of truck on fire spread to the back cab of truck at 818 East Jackson Ave.
Saturday 14
A call about a wreck with entrapment – no entrapment but did assist EMS with the patients on Hwy. 6 east at CR 421.
A penthouse elevator smoke detector malfunction (went here 4 times over the weekend) at the Chancellor House Hotel.
Workers cutting sheet rock activated a smoke detector at Chi Psi house.
Sunday 15
New construction – call was subject pinned between 18 wheeler and some wood – he was not pinned upon arrival at 514 East Jackson Ave.
A call canceled for Baptist Memorial Hospital.
A smoke detector malfunction at the University Trails Bldg. 8.

Friday 13
A report of vandalism and larceny at Hafley Hall.
A possession of paraphernalia at Campus Walk Apts.
A report of petit larceny at the Turner Center
Officers made three vehicle stops.
Assisted another agency.
Saturday 14
Officers made five vehicle stops.
One moving violation.
Sunday 15
Officers made five vehicle stops.
A suspicious vehicle at Crosby Hall.
A suspicious person at Stockard Hall.
Monday 16
A report of petit larceny at the Turner Center.
