Oxford resident Angelena Miller Tidwell, 46, has been sentenced to life in prison for three counts of sexual battery. Tidwell and her then husband, Glenn Tidwell, had been arrested in 2015 after investigators found evidence of child pornography and sexual assault of a five-month-old dating back to 2009.

Angelena will serve three life sentences after being convicted on three counts of sexual battery with another 25 years for one count of exploitation of a child, while Glenn will also serve life in prison after being convicted on charges of sexual battery and possession of child pornography. In the state of Mississippi, prisoners carrying life sentences aren’t eligible to receive a reduced sentence or parole.

Judge Andrew Howorth presided over the case, which was drawn out over the past year. Tidwell’s attorney requested mental examinations and evaluations, and Tidwell changed attorneys multiple times. Tidwell did eventually enter a guilty plea on October 10, 2016. Her sentencing hearing took place at the Lafayette County Court House on December 16, 2016.

On a Facebook post about the case from WTVA Tupelo, people have voiced their dismay for Tidwell’s actions and sympathy for the child involved.
