Regents School of Oxford Taps Jason Wood as New “Head of School”
The Board of Regents School of Oxford has announced that Mr. Jason Wood will become their Head of School, his term is set to begin before the 2017-2018 school year. Wood spent the past five years as the headmaster at Heritage Classical Christian Academy, a Christian school in St. Louis.
The Regent School, located on College Hill Road, is a Christian school dedicated to “to disciple students to love, serve, and glorify God in order to become godly men and women through a classically driven, gospel-centered school”. Wood received a Masters degree in Education from Geneva College and a Masters of Religion from Reformed Theological Seminary. In addition to his time at Heritage, Wood served as a youth pastor at Trinity Presbyterian Church and a High School Principal at Trinity Christian School in Hawaii. Wood’s track record made him an easy choice for the Board of Directors to bring him in as the next head of school.
““It is a privilege to witness what God is doing at Regents. We are thrilled to partner with someone of Jason Wood’s caliber. His proven record in classical Christian education, his passion for his students and faculty, and his vision for our future will serve Regents well for many years to come.” Meghan Berry, Chair of the Board of Directors, said.
Wood hopes to build upon the Regents school’s success and reputation within the Oxford community through the use of religion, particularly at the High School level.
My hope is to continue the great work that Regents has already begun. There is a strong foundation of excellent education, and I believe that Regents is primed to grow. Wood said. “I believe that Regents has a great opportunity to impact families of the Oxford community with Christ-centered education that mentors our students in understanding the application of the Gospel to all areas of their life. I am excited to be a part of this vital ministry.”
Wood and his wife Erin have four children, Ethan (8th grade), Jude (5th grade), Ansley (2nd Grade), and Laney (Kindergarten) who will all attend Regents next fall. Wood has already spent time in one SEC town and sees similarities here in Oxford.
“This is my first time in Oxford, and I am enjoying it. I grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Oxford reminds me of home. I am excited to return to a small town and be a part of a smaller community. It is obvious that Oxford is a growing community and we have been looking for a place like Oxford to raise our children.” Wood said.
