Chancellor’s House Brings 90 New Jobs To Oxford
“What a wonderful vision I have – a luxury hotel in a perfect setting, a great place to deliver a product, which is luxury, fine service… exquisite services,” said Michael Donnahughe.
Donnahughe is the managing director of the Chancellor’s House, the new hotel on the Square.
Construction for the Chancellor’s House is almost complete, and the new hotel is scheduled to open start of January.
Even though the hotel is not set to open until the new year, they will be hosting a job fair this weekend to find new employees. Unemployment rates in Lafayette County are some of the lowest in the state thanks to all the new businesses. The Chancellor’s House is helping to bring down this rate even more by hiring almost 100 new employees. Positions range from doormen to bartenders.
Weston Arnsten, manager and director of guest services, said he wants to hire the right people – people who have a strong sense of service.
“Not only do we want to serve our guests well, but anyone we meet,” Arnsten said.
Dozens came to the fair to apply for jobs Thursday.
Greg Carter said he and his wife just moved from Asheville, North Carolina. He is applying to be a manager at the new hotel.
“I’m excited about it. I gave up being nervous a long time ago,” he said with a laugh.
Others seem to just want to be a part of the new excitement.
“Bartender, server, whatever position they want to give me,” said Seth Cappleman, a student at Ole Miss.
The job fair will continue at the Convention Center on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
