Magnolia Montessori School Puts On Historic Halloween Carnival
Come one, come all to the Historic Halloween Carnival!
On Friday, October 28, The Magnolia Montessori School will play host to the second annual Historic Halloween Carnival at the Old Armory Pavilion in Oxford. The name Historic Halloween comes from a school project that the students work on for which they research a historical figure, dress up like them and present to their classmates what they’ve learned.
“A project like this gives kids the chance to learn how to research, learn about history and present in front of their classmates,” executive director Margaret Seicshnaydre said. “It’s great to see how much the kids have learned, and their sense of accomplishment after working so hard on their projects.”
The carnival will feature historically themed games for kids including a Howard Carter archaeological dig site, a Jackson Pollack balloon pop with paint-filled balloons, a Helen Keller “item identifier station” and much more.
“The Carnival helps bring Magnolia Montessori to the community, and tell people about what we do here, and we really enjoy putting this event on for the kids, parents and anyone who is interested in what we are working on,” Seicshnaydre said.
With live music by The Wilbers, carnival games, a photo booth and adult refreshments provided by Yalobusha Beer, there’s something for all ages offered at the carnival. Food and drinks will also be available at the event.
Parents and children age 2 and under receive free admission. Tickets for the carnival are $10 and can be purchased at the door. The carnival begins at 4:30 p.m. and will end around 9 p.m.
