Comic and Toy Show Comes To Oxford
On October 29, dress up in your favorite costume and head over the Powerhouse for DiscordiaCultureShop.com’s Comic and Toy Show Oxford Edition. The powerhouse will be transformed into a space filled with vendors selling vintage toys, anime goods, vinyl records, old comic books and so much more. Also featured will be professional cosplay artists, jewelry makers and artists of all kinds.
With so many costumed visitors in attendance, the event has some unique guidelines that you may not find at many other events around town.
“All superpowers must be contained and unused during event hours and on all event grounds. Including but not limited to: Mental including emphatic, psychometric, technopathy, and precognitive abilities. Weather, gravity, dimensional phase and time-based powers. All magical, animal, and vision based abilities. And all forms of telekinesis, kinesthesia, levitation, invisibility, teleportation, or wall-crawling.”
“Simulated or costume weapons are allowed as a part of your costume, subject to prior approval by security and staff. Only un-sharpened bladed weapons. No projectiles of any kind, All Lightsaber battles must take place outside.”
Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. The Comic and Toy Show welcomes people of all ages, and children 10 and under receive free admission. This event will be the first of its kind here in Oxford, and event supervisor Starr Mignon is looking forward the Oxford community’s response to something they may not have seen before.
“This will be the first year for Comic and Toy Show in Oxford. We hope the Oxford comes to appreciate what events like this can bring to the city, and this time you don’t have to travel 100 miles or more to see amazing things,” Mignon said.
One last guideline you may need to be aware of before heading to the show pertains to any costumes that may have an animal sidekick.
“Only service animals and kittens are allowed. Owners will take full responsibility for service animals. Kittens must be shared with and adored by all attendees.”
