Eating Oxford: Graduate Hotels Hosts Oxford First Responders
Oxford’s first responders received free lunch last week, courtesy of Graduate Hotels.
It was a friendly football wager made between Graduate general managers Mike Hoover from Oxford and Devin Heath from the Athens, Georgia, Graduate location, that resulted in the Oxford Police Department, Fire Department and local EMTs enjoying burgers, sliders and dessert catered by the Athens Graduate.
“I bet Devin that if UGA lost to Ole Miss, he’d have to come to Oxford with his executive chef and serve our first responders,” Hoover said.
“We thought this was a great way to have some friendly competition with Oxford as well as share with the community,” Heath said. “We were a little heartbroken that UGA lost, but at least it was to a good team like Ole Miss; we’re really happy that we could be here and host this event for first responders in Oxford.”
The Graduate’s parking lot was filled with fire trucks, police cars and ambulances as dozens of first responders came out to enjoy the free lunch in their honor. Many at the Graduate expressed their thanks to the first responders for the work they put in to keep the community safe during game time and year round.
