Ole Miss Student Jordan Samson Voluntarily Withdraws From University

On Wednesday, University of Mississippi officials announced that Jordan Samson has voluntary withdrawn from Ole Miss.

Samson was a senior management risk major who posted racial remarks on social media last month. He issued an apology about the lynching remarks that he posted in response to another student’s post about a protest in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The post led outraged students to host a sit-in in the Lyceum on Friday, Sept. 23.

Samson wrote: “I give my most sincere apologies to each person and any group of people that I have offended. I am deeply sorry for my lapse of judgement. I hope that you can find forgiveness in your heart for me.”

The UM Chancellor took to Twitter to voice his opinion.

According to a news release issued by the University of Mississippi, “While Samson has withdrawn from the university, he will remain in the campus community this fall and work closely with the staff of the William Winter Institute for Racial Reconciliation and the Center for Inclusion and Cross Cultural Engagement. In collaboration with campus entities devoted to working against bias, the institute staff and Samson will develop a plan that will provide him with learning opportunities and restorative justice activities.”
