Palmer Home for Children to Host “Tailgate for Palmer” at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium
Palmer Home for Children will be hosting their inaugural event “Tailgate for Palmer” Saturday, October 8.
The event will take place in the Field Level Club of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on the Ole Miss campus and will feature a true tailgating experience complete with SEC football, live music and all of the authenticity of the Grove. An auction will also take place to raise money for the non-profit organization.
The Palmer Home for Children has more than 120 years of experience in providing support and residential care to children and families in need. Their team offers a community and family to children in a Christ-centered environment, and currently have more than 100 children in their care. They plan to double that number by the end of 2017.
Event chairman Elizabeth Randall said, “We are very excited and encouraged by already having 500 tickets committed through sponsorship and individual ticket sales for this first year event. The Oxford/Ole Miss community is amazingly philanthropic; I’m always so impressed by the level of support that pours to help others less fortunate.”
“This will be the easiest and most convenient tailgate guests have ever attended: awesome venue, plenty of space and parking, huge group of friends, SEC football on the jumbotron, and gourmet tailgate food by Elizabeth Heiskell,” Randall said. “Then, ‘late night’ fried chicken, pizza and desserts. I love the work Palmer Home is doing for children who are coming from extremely difficult situations. Their lives are being truly transformed at Palmer Home.”
Also hosting the event are Security Card Services and Karen and Carver Phillips, parents of Chucky Mullins. Tickets for the event are $50, and Grove attire is encouraged. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the festivities will continue until 10:30 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the children of Palmer Home. Tickets can be bought at www.palmerhome.org/tailgate or at the door.
