Lafayette County High School Hosting Annual Trunk or Treat
The Lafayette County High School’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter is hosting their annual Trunk or Treat in the school’s front parking lot on Friday, October 28.
The event is open to anyone from Lafayette County with an entrance fee of $1. The Trunk or Treat will host a variety of different student organizations unique with their own spookily decorated trunks and fun events for the whole family.
“Trunk or Treat is a really good opportunity to give back to the community. The community supports us in every way, whether it be through our fundraisers or events, they are always there,” said Alyssa Canfield, vice president of the chapter’s officer team. “It is really nice to be able to do Trunk or Treat and give back to our community and say thanks.”
Events include a live petting zoo, a mini train ride, face painting, a cakewalk, cotton candy and even a haunted bus. The Police Department will be there to show their support with their squad cars as well as the Fire Department who will be bringing one of the fire trucks for children. They might even bring along a Dalmatian. Pumpkins will also be available for sale from a local farmer at the chapter’s greenhouse, which is located on campus.
The Lafayette FFA chapter has won numerous awards at the state, and even national level. Some of these awards are: chapter of the year, floriculture, chapter display, and more. The chapters state display will be representing the state of Mississippi in the hall of the states at the National FFA competition this year. The chapter has its own greenhouse and chicken coop to further its member’s knowledge of agriculture from a hands-on approach.
