Eating Oxford: Taste and Vote at 3 Blind Wines
One of Oxford’s favorite events, 3 Blind Wines, is returning to the Powerhouse on Tuesday, October 18 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Wine lovers of all varieties are invited to grab a teammate and enter their favorite wine (red, white, sparkling rosé, etc.) into a contest, which promises the chance to win an entire vault of wine at the end of the evening.
According to Wayne Andrews, director of the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council (YAC), there will be even more games and prizes this year, a gourmet cheese-tasting table, music by Skid Rouges, and more wine than you can possibly drink in one night.
Organized by the Rotary Club of Oxford and YAC, the annual 3 Blind Wines event encourages Oxford wine lovers to share their favorite wines while exploring a wide variety of new wines.
Proceeds from the event support the Moak Scholarship Fund and YAC.
“No need to dress up for this fundraiser,” Andrews said. “This event is just like having friends over for wine and cheese.”
At the close of the event, attendees will vote for their favorite wine, with the owner of the winning wine taking home several cases of wine.
“You don’t have to know anything about wine except what you like,” Andrews said. “The event is simply people sharing the wine that they love. It’s as if you went to a wine shop and had the chance to sip from every bottle before you made your choice.”
Tickets for 3 Blind Wines are $40 per couple/team plus three bottles of the same wine, or $100 per couple/team if you’d like a sommelier to select the wines. The event takes place Tuesday, October 18, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center on University Avenue.
Tickets can be purchased at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center, by calling 662-236-6429, or online at www.oxfordarts.com.
