3 Keys to Beating Georgia
After three weeks of the 2016 college football season, Ole Miss has already faced the likes of Jimbo Fisher and Nick Saban. Now, Kirby Smart will bring his undefeated Georgia squad into Oxford for yet another top 25 showdown. Here are three things that the Rebels must do to knock off the Bulldogs for the first time in twenty years.
1.Protect the Ball
Chad Kelly has put up gaudy numbers through three weeks, including 421 passing yards vs. the Alabama defense. However, it is no secret that his turnovers have been the Rebel’s undoing. If Ole Miss is going to defeat the 12th best team in the country, it will start with limiting the amount of turnovers.
2. Bend but Don’t Break
So far this season, the “landshark” defense has been unable to keep their opponents from getting into the endzone late in games. For the Rebels to prevent going 1-3 on the season, that has to change. Nick Chubb and company will have plenty of success pushing the ball down the field, but if the defense can continuously hold them to field goals or force turnovers, Ole Miss can win this game.
3. Keep Their Foot on the Pedal
In both of Ole Miss’ losses, the Rebels had built up leads of over twenty points. For them to avoid being on the bad end of yet another second half comeback, they are going to have to stay aggressive for an entire 60 minutes. Ole Miss can still win this game and get right back in the conversation for the SEC West title. However, for the Rebels to take that next step, they are going to have to stay aggressive and let Chad Kelly take them as far as he can.
