Proposals in the Grove on Game Day
Love was in the air Saturday in the Grove.
At the intersection of Brewer and Lindsey Lane across from the Thad Cochran Center Jordan Harwell popped the question to his girlfriend Allyson Corley. The couple graduated from Ole Miss in 2014 and went to Desoto Central High School together in Southhaven, Mississippi.
“She was really surprised,” Harwell said. “We had talked about it, but she didn’t know when.”
Harwell said he had planned the proposal weeks in advance. Earlier this summer Jordan asked Allyson’s father for his blessing.
Harwell went as far as setting up his own tent for the special occasion.
“I could kinda tell something was a little weird when caterers started setting up in the tent and then the guy came to install the TV,” Corley said. “We usually visited other people’s tents.”
Harwell, who works at Methodist University Hospital in the non-invasive cardiology department, said it took some planning to make sure both families were there.
“I caught on a little bit when my best friend and parents arrived,” Corley, who works at Montgomery Martin Contractors in Memphis, said.
With joy in her voice, Corley described the scene.
“Jordan got down on one knee and said, ‘You are probably wondering why everyone is here and you know how much I love you. Will you marry me?'”
Harwell says, of course, she said “yes.”
The two are building a home in Hernando and planning a June 2017 wedding.
When asked if she had anything else to add, Corley said “Hotty Toddy.”
And that Rebel fans, just about says it all.
