New Record Length Alligator 13 feet long, 700 pounds

Tiffany Wienke of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and her hunting party caught a record length male alligator for public waters Sunday, August 28, 2016.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks Program Coordinator, Ricky Flynt certified the 13 feet 7-7/8 inch record length alligator. The catch beat the previous record by a mere 1/8 inch.

The Wienke hunting party harvested the alligator near the Mississippi River in Bayou Pierre in the Southwest Hunting Zone.

The season is still open on private lands until Sept. 19.
