Weekend Crime Report: Heavy Collisions Over the Weekend
Oxford police responded to the following calls: 17 Disturbances, two complaints of lost property, six malicious mischiefs, auto burglary – Autumn Ridge, six ambulance assists, two 911 hang ups, 14 suspicious activities, two reported DUI Drivers, 15 illegally parked cars, reported public intoxicant, two noise violations, eight alarms, three animal complaints, two motorist assists, shoplifting, code violation – trash accumulation, scam, five welfare concerns, two petit larcenies, three grand larcenies, two Fire Department assists, harassing phone calls
Oxford police investigated 26 wrecks, issued 153 traffic citations, and made 29 arrests on the following charges:

Possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of schedule 2 and 4 narcotics
MIP and DUI
Suspended driver’s license, open container, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI
Littering, open container and possession of drug paraphernalia
No driver’s license and no insurance
No seatbelt, suspended driver’s license, expired tag and warrant served
Warrant served
Lafayette Sheriff’s department responded to the following incidents: Five accidents, seven alarms, three animal complaints, 10 disturbances, two grand larceny, two harassment, three juvenile complaints, 22 service calls, 10 suspicious activities, three welfare concerns, transport, two civil matters, traffic stop (arrest), natural cause death, five traffic complaints, unauthorized use of vehicle, one vehicle fire, three follow ups
Lafayette Sheriff’s department made three arrests on the following charges:

Friday, August 26
Two vehicle stops, suspicious vehicle – possession of marijuana with intent, possession of alcohol, moving violation – DUI – running stop sign, two intoxicated persons, Public Drunk – Fake ID – possession of controlled substance schedule 3, 4, and 5
Saturday, August 27
Four vehicle stops, two motor vehicle accidents at the Depot and Women’s Terrace – Upper Lot, possession of alcoholic beverage under 21, moving violation per suspended license, not implied consent, improper equipment
Sunday, August 28
One vehicle stop, service call – ambulance needed, hit and run and Crosby Hall, harassing email, two suspicious vehicles, intoxicated person

Smoke coming from building at 12:48 p.m. due to generator being cranked and was smoking a little – no fire at 608 South 16th Street
Fire alarm activation at 5:55 p.m. at first floor of North Residential College
Smoke detector activation at 10:54 p.m. due to cooking at The Domain building 5 Apartment 109
Saturday, August 27
Bar heat duct detector malfunction at 12:42 a.m. at 1001 Jackson Ave. East
Ceiling fan sparking – Fire Department turned breaker off at 1:12 a.m. at 900 Whirlpool Dr. Apartment 6104
Fire Alarm panel said “old sprinkler system” No detector found at 9:20 p.m. at Oxford Health and Rehab
Sunday, August 28
Fire alarm activation at 9:23 a.m. at first floor of North Residential College
Smoke detector activation at 10:27 a.m. due to steam from the shower at 10:27 a.m.
Wreck with extraction at 6:36 p.m. at Highway 314
Resident pulled the gas stove out to clean behind it and it caught fire at 7:42 p.m. Fire Department turned off gas to the stove and the fire went out at 67 Riverside Place
