Posh Ole Miss Dorms: Over-the-Top or Fabulous?
Dorm rooms have never been considered fancy. However, incoming Ole Miss freshmen take dorm room decorating to a whole new level.
At Ole Miss, students come to create their homes away from home, and they most certainly leave their mark. Twenty years ago, a walk through Martin may have felt like prison, with walls that resembled jail cells. But in 2016, one walk down the hall and you might feel like you’re in The Ritz. Have college students (or is it the parents?) gone too far?

I remember the old days when I had to make a closet out of a refrigerator packing crate and thought I was specially creative. No one had anything that coordinated or matched, even if you roomed with the same person for more than a year.
Unfortunately, the problem with these over the top rooms is that when the togetherness falls apart and they move to another room, another roommate, is there a separation agreement? Like a divorce? Who gets the matching pieces? Do you buy, sell, trade? Or do you just leave all that expensive, matching stuff at Mom and Dad’s until you move in an apartment and try to use it again when you’re all grown up and hopefully living on your own?

Can anyone ever say anything nice? Undergrad is far behind me but I think the rooms are cute and creative.
@P Morris, most girls request a specific roommate each year. As long as they continue to get along, they’ll be roommates until they graduate, if that’s what they desire. If things fall apart, oh well. That’s life.
@Anonymous, kids these days have much more “stuff” to take with them to college than people did years ago. The elevated beds allow them to hide away storage containers filled with their belongs while keeping their room nice and neat.

Where do you purchase the extra long bed skirts? Or, are they custom made?

There are ways to make them that are pretty easy. Look on Pinterest. You can also get them custom made if you have the actual height dimensions. Or you can use pocket drapes and use rod pockets and bungee just below the mattress. That way you can adjust the length.
