EatingOxford: Guide to Summer and Fall Openings
If you went away for the summer, you probably noticed a few new eateries upon your return to Oxford.
Here’s a rundown of what debuted while you were away as well as what’s coming soon for football season.
Cook Out opened in the former location of KFC/Long John Silvers at 2195 Jackson Avenue West.
Saint Leo Restaurant, the much-anticipated Italian eatery and bar owned by Emily Blount, opened at 1101 Jackson Avenue East.
Green Roof Lounge, on the rooftop of the new Courtyard Marriott on Jackson Avenue, opened in June.
Mugg Cakes Gourmet Cupcakes opened at 68 Hwy 334, serving up cupcakes and weekly poetry readings.
Dickey’s Barbecue Pit took over the former High Point Coffee at 2311 Jackson Avenue in June.
Holli’s Sweet Tooth got a new home—and new owners—between High Point Coffee and The Growler on the Square.
Great American Cookies and Marble Slab Creamery opened last week in the Highland Court Strip Mall at 1801 Jackson Avenue West.
The Beagle Bagel Café also found a home for its bagels and baked goods in the Highland Court Strip Mall at 1801 Jackson Avenue West.
Grit, owned by City Grocery Restaurant Group alum Nick Reppond and Angie Sicurezza opened in Taylor in June.
The owners of Tequilas, which closed to allow Kroger’s expansion, just opened a new restaurant, La Perla Tapatia, by Cash Saver at 1912 University Avenue.

The Summit Lodge Bar, a ski lodge-themed bar, will replace long-time Oxford hangout Burgundy Room this month.
Sinfully Southern Bakery, owned by Dwayne Ingraham, former City Grocery pastry chef, will open in the fall at 3000 Taylor Road.
Other openings to look forward to this fall: Chipotle, Five Guys, Mugshots Grill & Bar, Coyote Blues, and multiple restaurants and bars inside the soon-to-open Chancellor’s House.
