Rust College Reactivates Oxford Alumni Club; Mississippi Industrial College Included

The Oxford/ Lafayette County Rust College/ M.I. Alumni Club met recently to reactivate. The chapter had been dormant for several years. “Rust College has a strong alumni base here in the Oxford area”, said Andureay Adams (Lafayette County High class of ’03, Rust College class of ’08. We all are so excited about this chance to give back to a place that we hold so dear in our hearts”, added Adams who serves as the Oxford’s Club Vice President.

The club is also soliciting individuals who attended or graduated from Mississippi Industrial College. The two alumni associations recently merged after Mississippi Industrial College closed its doors in the 1980’s.

The club has three primary goals. 1. To sponsor events to provide financial support to Rust College. 2. To recruit students in high schools in our target area to attend Rust College. 3. To foster fellowship among members that attended Rust College & Mississippi Industrial College.

Several exciting events are planned for the fall including hosting the World Renowned Rust College A’Cappella Choir in a concert at First Presbyterian Church.
