Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, August 12 – 14 – Three Scams, Embezzlement
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 15 alarms, nine suspicious activities, five welfare concerns, five disturbances, five lost properties, five illegally parked cars, four motorist assists, four reported public intoxications, four animal complaints, three scams, three reported DUI drivers, two noise violations, two complaints of littering, two trespassing, two 911 hang-up calls, two shopliftings, a petit larceny, a fire department assists, an ambulance assist, a malicious mischief, an embezzlement and a simple assault.
Oxford police investigated 16 wrecks, issued 60 traffic citations and made 10 arrests on the following charges:

Possession of marijuana
Careless driving and DUI
No headlights and possession of drug paraphernalia
Open container and possession of drug paraphernalia
Careless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI
Careless driving, suspended driver’s license, possession of marijuana and DUI
Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department responded to the following incidents: 19 service calls, 12 disturbances, 10 alarms, six suspicious activities, six civil matters, five accidents, four animal complaints, four welfare concerns, four traffic complaints, three transportations, three follow-ups, two juvenile complaints, a grand larceny, a harassment, a vandalism, a trespassing, a traffic stop arrest, an unauthorized use of a vehicle and a natural cause death.
Lafayette County Sheriff’s department made three arrests on the following charges:
Disorderly conduct
Warrant for trespassing
Suspended driver’s license and DUI
University police responded to the following incidents:

Smoke detector malfunctions at 9:44 a.m. at North Residential College rooms 146 and 228
