Chicksa District Scouts Bring Archery Skills To Oxford
Sunday, August 7, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of the Chicksa District hosted an event of live demonstrations for the Oxford community in the Old Armory Pavilion.
Attendees were able to participate in flag ceremonies, archery competitions, knife skills and other fun workshops to learn the components of being a scout.
“Scouting gives boys a taste of a whole world of possibilities and helps turn young men into leaders,” said Mitchell Diggs, scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 146.
Julie Chambers, the Chicksa District executive, said that while scouts are learning leadership skills, they also impact the community through service projects. The Yocona Area Council is always open for more service project ideas from the community.
“If you have an idea of something that you could use help with, stop by and let us know,” Chambers said.
