Top Headlines: Editorial Ignites A Movement – “I Stand With Coach Freeze!” Campaign Launched
by Allison Buchanan, CEO, New Media Lab LLC parent company of HottyToddy.com
After an overwhelming response to an editorial by our founder Ed Meek in support of Coach Hugh Freeze this past Friday (linked here), his first editorial in many years, HottyToddy.com has launched a national “I Stand With Coach Freeze” campaign. We are also launching a way for the Ole Miss family to help us fund the effort (see below).
Meek said in his editorial.
“Wags in the NCAA, national press and at other institutions are talking about a possible suspension of Coach Freeze — the first ever under what may be a flawed process put in a few years ago. Some are even attacking this fine man on his faith, some even saying it is not real. God knows and we know, Hugh Freeze is for real.”
Because of the groundswell of positive feedback, we believe we have an obligation to capture this spirit. We at HottyToddy.com are privileged to be able to communicate with the Ole Miss family, and we want to use this privilege to rally support for Coach Freeze. The idea of a campaign has received very positive response from those with whom we have talked.
The “I Stand With Coach Freeze” campaign is reminiscent, for those who were around in the 70s, of the “Archie Who?” campaign. On Saturday, we immediately began using the hashtag #IStandWithCoachFreeze on our posts from the Ladies Football Forum. We brainstormed ideas and are sourcing buttons, stickers and other integrated marketing tools.
Our hope is to see a red button or sticker on everyone in the Grove and in the stands at every game this fall. We are working on a distribution plan and are creating digital graphics to share and to update profile pictures online. Depending on the fundraising response, we may even write and record a ballad! Anyone remember the “Ballad of Archie Who?”
To help fund the effort, we have set up a way for the Ole Miss family and anyone else to donate through the secure online fundraising portal Tilt. Our page can be reached by visiting https://www.tilt.com/tilts/i-stand-with-hugh-freeze-campaign
On a computer, the link will take you straight to the page. On a phone or tablet, the link will give you the option to use or download the app or go to the mobile site. The Tilt app can also be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. Once downloaded, go to this link.
For those who want to pay by check, make checks payable to: Hotty Toddy News, 307 West Jackson Avenue, Suite 3, Oxford, MS 38655.
Funds will cover costs to design graphics, develop the campaign, purchase the buttons, stickers and other materials, along with the effort to distribute the items. Funds will also fuel and support the campaign with new ideas along the way. A page on our website: hottytoddy.com/freeze will serve as campaign central. Follow our Facebook page and our Twitter @hottytoddynews and Instagram for updates as well.
Along with Ed Meek and our team at HottyToddy.com, I Stand With Coach Freeze. I hope you will join us and use the hashtag #IStandWith CoachFreeze on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. If you have questions, please email me at allison.buchanan@hottytoddy.com.
It is important to note that HottyToddy.com is a part of New Media Lab LLC, and we are organized so that our profits go to benefit the University (see our mission statement here.)
