Oxford Crime Report: Wednesday, July 27 – Residential Burglary, Shoplifting
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: four suspicious activities, three disturbances, two alarms, two reported DUI drivers, two motorist assists, a lost property, a fire department assist, a welfare concern, a scam, an animal complaint, a 911 hang-up call, and a burglary (Anderson Road).
Oxford police investigated five wrecks, issued 43 traffic citations and made two arrests on the following charges:
Public intoxication
Speeding with suspended driver’s license
Lafayette Sheriff’s department responded to the following incidents: three accidents, three disturbances, three service calls, two suspicious activities, two welfare concerns, two traffic complaints, a shoplifting, an alarm, a residential burglary (Highway 6 West), a grand larceny, and a petit larceny.
Lafayette Sheriff’s department made one arrest on the following charges:
Warrant for shoplifting
University police responded to the following incidents: three vehicle stops, a service call for an ambulance at J.D. Williams Library, a domestic violence – simple assault off-campus, and a suspicious vehicle at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Smoke detector malfunction at 6:42 a.m. at Brevard Hall
Smoke detector malfunction at 6:49 a.m. at Oxford Country Club
Smoke detector activation at 11:45 a.m. due to workers sanding sheet rock at Northgate C201
Wreck at 12:44 p.m. but no extrication at 466 Highway 7 (north area)
Smoke detector activation at 7:12 p.m. caused by cooking at Oxford Country Club
