Small Hall Concert Series Features Nationally-Praised Musician Sean Rowe
Saturday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m., Yoknapatawpha Arts Council’s new Small Hall concert series will feature Sean Rowe at McDavid Law Firm office at 1109 Van Buren Avenue on the Square.
Tickets are $8 for general admittance with $5 for YAC members; $15 for couples with $9 for YAC members. The doors open at 7:00 and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The attendees are invited to enjoy the balcony overlooking the Square before going inside the law firm for a cozy night of enjoying the small concert. They may bring their own refreshments.
Hailing from upstate New York, Sean Rowe is a soulful singer and songwriter who grew up listening to The Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, Muddy Waters, Ray Charles and John Lee Hooker to name a few of his inspirations.

While reviewing Sean Rowe’s 2014 album “MadMan,” NPR wrote “At the core of every song is Rowe’s remarkable voice, which sounds inescapably melancholy, tremendously sexy and often slightly menacing. It does all sorts of things well, and its full range is on display here.”
Luckily, the attendees will get to hear this nationally-praised voice up close and personal as Sean Rowe himself enjoys performing house concerts.
On his website, Sean Rowe wrote:
“This is why I do house shows: I want to connect. I want to eat your chips and drink your beer. I want to take you on an intimate musical journey that you and your friends will remember forever. Do I love club shows? Hell YES. I love the vibe, the energy, the lights, the heat. I want to see you out there, too. But this is a different beast. Maybe a gentler, more homey beast. So, give it a try. I promise you will not regret it.”
The inspiration for the Small Hall Concert Series stems from the Music in the Hall, a pocket concert series begun by Daniel Morrow here in Oxford since 2008. He recently held a Music in the Hall concert that featured a bocce tournament and Ole Miss Baseball this past May.
