Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, July 15 – 17: Auto Burglaries, Public Intoxication

Oxford police department responded to the following incidents: six alarms, six reported DUI drivers, six suspicious activities, four disturbances, four motorist assists, four noise violations, three petit larcenies, three reported public intoxications, three auto burglaries, two harassing phone calls, two malicious mischief, an ambulance assist, an illegally parked car, an animal complaint, a recovered property, a welfare concern, a civil matter and a fire department assist.

Oxford police investigated 12 wrecks, issued 24 traffic citations and made 19 arrests on the following charges:

Domestic violence per simple assault

Lafayette Sheriff’s department responded to the following incidents: 28 service calls, 14 suspicious activities, 12 alarms, eight disturbances, five welfare concerns, five animal complaints, four traffic complaints, three accidents, three civil matters, a grand larceny, a harassment, a juvenile complaint, a transportation, a trespassing, a recovered stolen vehicle, a natural cause death and a follow-up.

Lafayette Sheriff’s department made two arrests on the following charges:
Contempt of Circuit Court
Bench warrant

University police department responded to the following incidents:
Friday, July 15
Intoxicated driver on university campus
Accidental hit and run at Lamar Hall
Petit larceny at Martindale Hall
Report of a suspicious person at J.D. Williams Library
Saturday, July 16
(2) Vehicle stops
Vehicle accident at Brandt Memory House
Sunday, July 17
Vehicle stop at J.D. Williams Library annex
Service call for an ambulance at Crosby Hall
Accidental property damage at All American Drive
Housing violation per visitation violation and possession of drug paraphernalia at Campus Walk

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Friday, July 15
Fire at 8:40 a.m. within the fryer at Oby’s but it went out before fire department’s arrival
Fire alarm activation at 11:04 a.m. due to power outage at East Side Rebel Club
Smoke detector activation at 3:27 p.m. due to cooking at Captain D’s
Smoke detector malfunction at 7:34 p.m. at Rowan Oak
Saturday, July 16
Report of a burning at 9:51 a.m. where a caller said she could smell wires burning that turned out to have been caused by a faulty light ballast at 1731 University Avenue
Breaker boxes arcing at 5:18 p.m. behind Kroger – the fire department stood by for Oxford Electric
Heat detector malfunction at 8:19 p.m. at Turnberry Condominiums
Smoke detector malfunction at 12:00 a.m. at The Graduate
Smoke detector malfunction at 12:16 a.m. at 109 Hot Spur Lane
