Oxford Crime Report: Thursday, July 14 – Attempted House Burglary, Rooftop Fire
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: seven suspicious activities, four alarms, two disturbances, a noise violation, a simple assault, an animal complaint, a welfare concern, a malicious mischief, a fire department assist, harassing phone calls, a civil matter, a motorist assist, a scam, an illegally parked car, a recovered wallet, an auto burglary on Old Taylor Road, and an attempted house burglary on Old Taylor Road.
Oxford police investigated seven wrecks, issued four traffic citations and made two arrests on the following charges:
Shoplifting
Public intoxication and possession of Schedule IV narcotics
Lafayette Sheriff’s Department responded to the following calls: five service calls, three transportations, two alarms, two harassments, two civil matters, an accident, a disturbance, a juvenile complaint, a malicious mischief and a welfare concern.
University police responded to the following incidents: four vehicle stops and a vehicle accident at Deaton Hall.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Rooftop fire at 1:56 p.m. at Galleria II on Ross Dress for Less building caused by workers cutting steel with a chop saw which caught the roofing material on fire.
Report of a vehicle wreck with possible fire at 7:01 p.m. at South Lamar and Office Park Drive but no fire was found.
