Oxford Crime Report: Monday, July 11 – Hissing Bats, Attempted Arson
Oxford Police Department will release the statistics for Monday, July 11, tomorrow, July 13.
Lafayette Sheriff’s Department responded to the following incidents: four service calls, four disturbances, two accidents, two suspicious activities, two transportations, two civil matters, an animal complaint, a petit larceny, a juvenile complaint, an identity theft, a welfare concern and a residential burglary in West Springhill area.
Lafayette Sheriff’s Department made three arrests on the following charges:
Warrant for simple assault
DUI to second degree
Attempted arson
University police responded to the following incidents: a traffic detail on Hathorn Road, a vehicle stop on Guyton Drive, and a dispatching.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Three people stuck on an elevator at 8:11 a.m. at Baptist Hospital parking garage
Public assist at 7:12 p.m. at 306 Country Club
Smoke detector activation at 9:29 p.m. caused by sheet rock dust at Kappa Alpha house
Report of an assumed gas leak at 10:17 p.m. where a caller reported hearing a hissing noise that could be a gas leak but it turned out to be two bats hissing in the chimney at 136 L’Acadian Drive
Smoke detector malfunction at 11:25 p.m. (and later at 12:40 a.m. and 7:08 a.m. on July 12) at 800 College Hill Road
