Two New Mixed-Use Developments Coming to Oxford
Two new shopping centers, one on North Lamar and the other on East University Ave., are underway in Oxford, Mississippi.
Unsurprisingly, Oxford is expanding, but with that growth, the historical, cultural roots of Oxford are certain to remain as her new face unravels.
With the City of Oxford’s new vision, known as Vision 2037, investors are creating mixed-use developments that will be visually appealing yet maintaining a cultural experience for shoppers. Although in no competition to the Square, developers hope these new venues will have a similar feel to the Square, which has had tremendous appeal to both locals and newcomers.
Mac Montieth has plans to bring this same “high standard” development to North Lamar across from NAPA. Brad Beard is also forming a similar development plan on East University Avenue where Burger King, the UPS Store, Alice and Company, The Mustard Seed and several other businesses are located.
Although both plans are not officially documented, Mayor Pat Patterson has confirmed the new developments will make their debut in the near future, but details are indefinite at this point.
Stay tuned as more information becomes available within the next few weeks.

The shopping center on University should have been closed years ago as a public safety hazard.
