Oxford Crime Report: Tuesday, July 5 – Natural Cause Death, Auto Theft
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: nine alarms, four suspicious activities, two discharging fireworks in the city, an auto theft, a property damage, a larceny, a civil matter, a disturbing the peace and a careless driving.
Oxford police investigated six wrecks, issued 18 traffic citations and made two arrests on the following charges:
Careless driving, no liability insurance and a suspended driver’s license
Speeding, seat belt violation, no liability insurance and a suspended driver’s license
Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department investigated five disturbances, five transportations, four animal complaints, three accidents, two service calls, two suspicious activities, two welfare concerns, a traffic complaint, a natural cause death, an alarm, a petit larceny, a malicious mischief and a harassment.
Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department made one arrest by serving a warrant on charges of domestic violence – simple assault.
University police responded to the following incidents: eight vehicle stops, a special detail at Lewis Hall, and a vehicle accident at Lamar Hall.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Smoke detector malfunction at 1:18 p.m. at Alpha Omicron Pi house
Smoke detector activation at 3:08 p.m. caused by workers sanding walls at Crosby Hall
