Top Headlines: Airbnb Prices Rise for the Football Weekends in Oxford

Online rental service, Airbnb.com, is a way for travelers to find a room to stay in towns for vacation, conferences or just a night in a different city.
There are many different types of condo and apartment renting websites out there, but the thing that makes Airbnb different is that it allows people to share a condo or even a room with the renter.
Airbnb has garnered a presence in Oxford as Ole Miss fans and those who love Oxford book stays for a night or a weekend. Currently, the average per night within a residence is $518. The price range for condominiums is between $101 and $2,500.
Obviously, the prices for Airbnb residences in Oxford increase for Saturdays during the football season.
The average rent for an Airbnb residence listing during September 17, the home game weekend against Alabama Crimson Tide is $693. There are only 43 listings available for that weekend in and around Oxford. The highest priced listing for that weekend is $5,500 (not including service fee of $330) for one night in a residence located at North 9th Street.
For the Ole Miss Rebels’ home game against Georgia Bulldogs on September 24, the average rental prices average at $762 with a range of $200 to over $1,000 within Oxford. For October 29, the day of the home game against Auburn Tigers, the average rental price for that weekend is $769. Interestingly, the average rental price for the Egg Bowl weekend, November 25 to 27, is $743, around $25 cheaper compared to the home game weekends for Georgia Bulldogs and Auburn Tigers.
