LeapFrog Crowns Jason and Kathy Lowe as Mr. and Mrs. America
Tonight, LeapFrog, an after-school tutoring and enrichment program for at-risk first, second and third graders in Oxford and Lafayette school districts, hosted its annual Firecracker Bash at The Lyric to raise money.
At Firecracker Bash, Leap Frog crowns its Mr. and Mrs. America for any of three couples who fundraised the most money for the program.
Tonight, Leap Frog crowned Jason and Kathy Lowe.
There was a silent auction with more than 30 items including a signed Eli Manning’s Giants jersey valued at $800. Among those items was an Ole Miss football signed by Coach Hugh Freeze that is valued at $100.
Leap Frog students performed a song by Michael Jackson to open for Hollywood, a party band from Memphis.
Leap Frog is an after-school mentoring program that serves 140 students from first third grade with 70 coming from Oxford City School and 70 coming from Lafayette High School. Each school district gets two meeting days during the week, and the students are tutored for an hour, and the students spend the next hour as enrichment time or a planned activity.
