Seven Houses, Three Acres, Purchased All at Once at June 23 Auction
Video taken for an article announcing the seven houses’ auctioning on June 23, 2016.
The Charles Wilkinson Estate, named after a late Oxford physician, auctioned off seven homes on Washington Avenue Extension last Thursday, June 23, through Redfield Group Auctions.
Mike Fisher, president and auctioneer, said that the auction went “really well.” He said that they had 40 chairs initially, but had to put out 25 more. Fisher said that around 90 to 95 people were in attendance at the auction.
“We had bidders on all seven parcels,” Fisher said. “In the end, a developer actually put all the parcels together and bought them as an entirety.”
Fisher could not name the developer due to confidentiality.
These seven houses are located within a short walk across Jackson Avenue from the University of Mississippi’s campus. The reason they were up for an auction was because the estate managers were uncertain if one buyer would purchase all seven houses or if these houses would go to individual buyers.
