Today’s roundup feature stories from Saturday Down South and SEC Country.com.
Better or worse in 2016: Ole Miss run defense
Only five SEC teams gave up fewer than 130 rushing yards per game last season. Ole Miss ranked fourth in the conference in rushing yards allowed, giving up 127.1 per game.
Coincidence or not, the two SEC teams to beat the Rebels, Florida and Arkansas, were also in the top five. Ole Miss (nine) and Alabama (seven) were the only two teams to allow fewer than 10 rushing touchdowns, something only four teams in the nation can claim.
2015 STATS
Rushing yards allowed per game: 127.1 (4th in SEC, 23rd in the nation)
Most rushing yards allowed in 2015: 215 (Alabama, Sept. 19)
Rushing touchdowns allowed: 9 (2nd in SEC)

SEC roundtable: Which football program will end its championship game drought first?
In the 24 years since the SEC divided into divisions in 1992, just six programs have won an SEC Championship Game.
Florida, Alabama and LSU have combined to win 17 of the 24, while Auburn (3), Georgia (2) and Tennessee (2) have earned victories as well.
Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi State and South Carolina are a combined 0-7 in the game, while four other current member institutions have yet to make an appearance in the game.
Which of the eight teams still waiting on their first SEC championship game victory will have the shortest wait? We put that question in front of a pannel of our experts.
Connor Smolensky (@ConnorSmo): Ole Miss
Hugh Freeze has shown he is capable of singing some big-time prospects. The NCAA violations could hinder his ability to continue doing so depending on the ruling, but the Rebels possess the nation’s No. 1 pro-style quarterback from last season in Shea Patterson. Expectations are high for Patterson, and Gil Brandt recently predicted that teams will be trading up in the draft to choose him once he’s eligible.

Rockette Fires Off Commitment To Rebels
Ole Miss picked up its eighth commitment in its 2017 recruiting class on Thursday and its second in as many days.
Oxford (Miss.) High School cornerback Devin Rockette committed to Ole Miss shortly after lunch on Thursday. The Rebels offered Rockette just eight days ago after an outstanding performance at an Ole Miss camp.
It was an easy decision for the hometown kid.
“I’ve been around Ole Miss all my life,” Rockette told Rebels247. “It’s always been a dream of mine to play there. It is what I have always wanted to do. I consider myself extremely blessed.”

#1…I think the NCAA will double the proposed 11 scholarships.
#2…The NCAA will give Ole Miss a two year bowl ban
#3…If Patterson is smart, he’ll transfer or waste his first two seasons.
#4…The fighting beavers will crumble under the weight if the NCAA penalties and fall back to the bottom, where they have a reserved seat.

Mr. Dagg, that’s your opinion, and that’s all it is Mr. Dagg is your opinion. the ncaa does not care about your opinion. when the time comes they will make a decision based on the facts of the case. Beavers ?????? you sure you know what team you are talking about. you need to go back to the drawing board.
