Oxford Police Officers Recognized for Catching Two Burglar Suspects
On June 14, Oxford police department’s Chief Joey East presented Officers Jordan Hardin and Stefun Gill with letters of commendation for their efforts in catching two burglars two weeks ago.
Major Jeff McCutchen wrote in the media release: “These officers’ efforts were what broke the cases open and gave us the ability to solve so many burglaries.”
These two officers responded to a report of an auto burglary in progress at Access Road. Upon arriving on scene, the burglars were gone. Officer Hardin began searching the surrounding areas and found an individual walking that he stopped and detained. That person was later identified as one of the suspects.
Officer Gill stayed near the location of reported burglary because one of the suspects dropped his phone upon fleeing. He deduced that the suspect would return for the phone, and the suspect did. After a short chase on foot, Officer Gill caught the suspect.
Both men were arrested and interviewed. After evidence was processed, the detectives began making more cases.
“It was a job well done by two officers with less than a years’ experience,” said Major McCutchen in the media release.
