Oxford Police Department Finishes Fourth in LawFit, Breaks a National Record
This past weekend, June 10 to 12, Oxford police department members competed in the 16th annual National LawFit Challenge.
Members of the team competed in six events over three days in Pearl. There were over 130 competitors and 28 agencies representing from as far north as Rhode Island and New Jersey.
Events included max effort bench press, 1.5 mile run, one minute sit-up test, stretch and reach, max effort pull-ups and o-course.
The Oxford team finished in fourth place, and teammate Wess Denton won the sit-up event. He broke the national record in doing so.
On Oxford Police Department’s Facebook page, Wess Denton posted: “Thanks to the Lord for a great competition and letting us come back with a victory and no injuries. We have a great team of men that represented OPD well. Thank you all for your support.”
Let’s give a salute to Oxford’s finest!
