Oxford Crime Report: Thursday, June 9 – Sexual Offense, Grill Fire
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: eight disturbances, seven suspicious persons, five assists, three improper parking, three alarms, two fire department assists, two welfare concerns, a careless driving, and an animal complaint.
Oxford police investigated three wrecks, issued 18 traffic citations and made one arrest on the following charge: DUI to first degree and expired driver’s license.
University police responded to the following incidents: a sexual offense per battery that occurred off-campus, vehicle accident on Coliseum Circle, a vehicle accident on Poole Drive, and a service call for information on University Avenue.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Report of an oven fire at 11:08 a.m. at The Retreat where the resident was cleaning the oven and it began smoking.
Fire at 8:28 p.m. at 1709 Burney Branch where a charcoal grill in carport flared up too high and the resident put water and flour on it to put it out.
