Oxford Crime Report: Tuesday, June 7 – Burglaries, Identity Theft
Ethan Gatlin – Burglary
On June 5, Oxford police officers responded to 507 Webb Street in reference to an auto burglary. The victim reported that someone stole a golf bag with golf clubs and sunglasses inside of it. During this time the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department was also working two similar burglary cases. Both agencies were able to identify Ethan Gatlin (18 of Batesville) as their suspect. When they found him, he was in possession of the golf bag, golf clubs, and sunglasses belonging to the victim. Gatlin has been charged and was given a bond of $10,000.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: five welfare concerns, four suspicious activities, three disturbances, three alarms, three residential burglaries (two at The Retreat and one at Highland Square), two auto burglaries at West Jackson Avenue and the Retreat, a shoplifting, a complaint of lost property, a code violation, an illegally parked car, a simple assault, a noise violation and an identity theft.
Oxford police investigated five wrecks, issued 22 traffic citations and made three arrests on the following charges:

University police responded to the following incidents: a vehicle stop on Northgate Drive, a vehicle accident at Howry Hall, and a report of a suspicious person in Kincannon Hall parking lot.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Carbon Monoxide detector alarms at 9:12 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. due to a new boiler malfunctioning at Luckyday Residential College
Report of scent of smoke at 9:14 p.m. by a resident in Molly Barr Ridge area but nothing was found
