Ranger Baseball Ranked 18th in Final NJCAA Division II Poll
Northwest Mississippi Community College checked in at No. 18 in the final NJCAA Division II baseball poll of the season released Wednesday, its third consecutive Top 20 finish in the national rankings.
The rankings are based off team performance through Sunday, May 15 and do not reflect results of games played since then.
The Rangers are currently 29-19 overall and finished 18-10 in MACJC play to clinch the No. 4 seed in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament which begins this Thursday at Clark/Gay Baseball Complex in Decatur.
Also ranked in this week’s poll from NJCAA Region 23 are No. 1 LSU Eunice, No. 2 Jones County, No. 10 East Central and No. 12 Meridian.
Northwest will face 10th-ranked East Central at 4 p.m. Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Region 23 Tournament. LSUE and Jones County will play the opener at noon. It is a double elimination format. Live video/stats will be available for the weekend at www.nwccrangers.com.
The winner will advance to Enid, Okla., for the NJCAA Division II World Series May 28-June 3.
