Help Prevent Child Abuse at The Exchange Club Family Center’s Golf and Crawfish Bash
The Oxford Exchange Club Family Center is hosting a four-man golf scramble and crawfish bash at the Oxford Country Club on Monday, May 23, 2016.
HottyToddy.com sat down with Billy Orr about this event and what the Exchange Club does for Oxford and Lafayette County. We learned that an Ole Miss great will return to Oxford for this event.
Billy Orr said, “Next year, former Ole Miss great Deuce McAllister will be the head of our tournament and we are looking forward to calling it ‘Deuce is loose against child abuse.'”
Since 1997, the Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse of North Mississippi, Inc., – more commonly known as Exchange Club Family Center – has been engaged in its mission to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect in North Mississippi.
The agency’s mission is to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect through prevention, intervention and educational services to replace abusive behavior with effective skills for reasonable parenting. Accomplishment of this mission, without dissolving the family unit (as long as the child’s life is not endangered), is the primary goal of the Center.
The Exchange Club has programs such as the Adolescent Opportunity Program provide services to teens involved in the youth court system. TLC (To Love a Child) is a first-time teen mothers’ program geared to keep them on track towards graduation. STAN (Stop the Abuse Now) is a child abuse prevention bear that visit schools promoting good touch, bad touch, how to say no, get away and tell somebody.
The scramble and crawfish bash is a way that people can have fun while helping in supporting the family center. The price to participate is $500 a team to play which includes all the crawfish one can eat. The fee for each player is $125. People can also take part in the silent auction from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Also the crawfish bash at 4:00 p.m. people can buy tickets to enjoy crawfish. Tickets are $20 a piece.
The Exchange Club is limiting the tournament to the first 28 teams. There is still time to sign a team up and take part in this supportive event.
Teams can contact Fred Johnson at 662-234-4255 for more information.
