Oxford Middle School (OMS) student artists joined artists from throughout the southeast in displaying artwork for sale to festival-goers during this year’s annual Double Decker Arts Festival.
For the second year in a row, the Double Decker Art Show and Sell event—a school art contest coordinated by the OMS Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)—spotlighted the artistic talents of Oxford seventh and eighth graders in several ways.
OMS hosted the 2016 Double Decker Art Show and Sell, a private preview party for family and friends that was held at the school before the Double Decker Arts Festival. During the school event, OMS art contest winners were announced, and participants could purchase student artwork before being sold to the public at the Double Decker Arts Festival that following Saturday.
“We hope participation in the event will grow over the years,” said OMS parent Cris Hughes, who chaired the event this year and spearheaded the creation of the school fundraising event last school year. “Our hope is that it will be a much anticipated school event for students as they enter Oxford Middle School.”
