UM Announces New Graduation Regalia, Graduation Schedule
On Saturday, May 14, 2016, The University of Mississippi will hold its 163rd Commencement and for the first time in school history, the graduates will adorn custom-designed red and blue Commencement caps and gowns bearing the Lyceum logo.
Vice Chancellor for Research and Sponsored Programs, Alice Clark, said, “They’re absolutely beautiful. The Lyceum is an iconic symbol. Featured on the robe, it jumps out and brings distinction to the entire regalia.”
The University used R.M. Hendrick Graduate Supply, who has supplied the graduate regalia for a number of years and a Mississippi company, to design the new caps and gowns. The new design will freshen up the black caps and gowns that have been worn in the past.
As you move about Oxford and Ole Miss on Saturday for Commencement, HottyToddy.com has collected a schedule of events and the times of each graduation for each school. Every graduate and their families are invited to attend the Morning Convocation at 9 a.m. in the Grove. The convocation is the conferring of the degrees by the UM Chancellor, Jeffery Vitter. Seating for 15,000 people will be set up in the Grove on a first-come basis. The individual ceremonies for each school department will follow the convocation.
