Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, April 29 – May 1
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 18 suspicious activities, 14 welfare concerns, 11 alarms, seven disturbances, seven reports of lost property, five noise violations, four careless drivers, four simple assaults, three fire department assists, three animal complaints, three motorist assists, three malicious mischief, three petit larcenies, three 911 hang up calls, an illegally parked car, harassing phone calls and a counterfeit currency.
Oxford police investigated 20 wrecks, issued 58 traffic citations and made 16 arrests on the following charges:

Careless driving and DUI
No headlights and open container
Ran red light, no driver’s license and expired tag
Open container and possession of drug paraphernalia
Reckless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia
Public intoxication and possession of Schedule I narcotics
Public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia and fake ID
Careless driving, no insurance, open container and possession of drug paraphernalia
University police responded to the following incidents:
Friday, April 29

Saturday, April 30

Intoxicated person at Martin Hall

DUI, careless driving and fake ID at Martin Hall
Sunday, May 1

Careless driving by improper passing on Intramural Fields Road

Smoke detector activation at 11:52 a.m. by dust at Discount Buildings
Car fire at 2:09 p.m. at 1609 West Jackson Avenue – Toyota 4-runner on fire per engine compartment
Car fire at 9:28 p.m. at Old Taylor Road at University Trails – a Chevrolet pick-up was on fire
Saturday, April 30
Smoke alarm at 4:50 p.m. caused by burned mac’n’cheese at Townhouse Suites by Marriott
Smoke detector activation at 4:59 p.m. caused by cooking at Northgate C203
Sunday, May 1
Smoke detector activation at 7:51 p.m. caused by burned food at 100 Augusta Drive, Apartment 602
Fire alarm at 10:36 p.m. pulled as a prank at Lafayette Place Building 6000
