The moment has finally arrived as former Rebels cross the bridge from a youthful college amateur career to the main stage with the big boys in the pros.
These former Rebels will forever be remembered on the field and in our hearts as the beginning of new direction for the Ole Miss Rebels just a few seasons ago. And now this evening, they could be a breath of change for NFL teams during the first round pick in Chicago.
Ole Miss should be at the forefront of Roger Goodell’s draft announcements through the first round of picks with Laremy Tunsil, Robert Nkemdiche and Laquon Treadwell. This Rebel trio really needs no introduction when it comes to being at forefront of pure athleticism. These former Rebels could make history by being the first trio of Rebels to be chosen in the first round.
Offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil seemed to be the number one overall draft pick going to Tennessee Titans just a little over two weeks ago. Now since Tennessee Titans traded their spot, Tunsil may go a little later in the first round. However, the towering 6’5″ football player is sure to make a NFL team owner and a coach pleased with their investment. At the end of the day, rankings will become insignificant other than the financial outcome for these new players.
Defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche, the poster child for “the most interesting man in the world,” can bring a dynamic to the NFL teams. There is no denying that, despite his sensational headlines in the media, the NFL scouts have been evaluating his pure talent as a positive. I am interested to see what kind of fiery talent he can produce in a short amount of time, and if he can continue his football career at the next level in NFL.
Wide receiver Laquon Treadwell seems to be the number one choice of a wide receiver in the NFL Draft. I believe that NFL teams looking for the whole package need look no further than Treadwell. What may put him down the draft ladder could be his 40 being clocked in at 4.65. Despite that mark, the NFL teams would be amiss to not snatch Treadwell up because they won’t find a receiver in this draft who can bring fresh talent to the field like he can.
My draft prediction for the Rebel trio in the first round:
6. Ravens – Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss
15. Titans – Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss
19. Bills – Robert Nkemdiche, DT, Ole Miss
The NFL Draft has finally arrived, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see each of the Rebel prospects have the opportunity to exhibit all they have learned under Ole Miss’ Hugh Freeze. Hotty Toddy, y’all and remember, it’s just a few more months before we’re back to our beloved football season.
