The LOU Excel By 5 Coalition’s 4th Annual Excelebration is April 30 at the Jackson Avenue Center from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
“[It’s] a celebration of fun and learning for the whole family with snacks,” the flier reads.
The Excelebration is going to include a Bluegrass jam and dance, puppet shows, gymnastics, story time, kindermusik and a tour of the Family Resource Center. The event is sponsored by United Way of Oxford and Lafayette County, Excel By 5 and the University of Mississippi.
“The vision of Excel By 5 is to support families with children ages zero to five by encouraging community-based collaborations to draw upon research-based best practices to use and enhance existing resources to optimize the care and education of young children by preparing them to enter school happy, healthy and with the skills they need to succeed,” Excel By 5’s mission statement states.
The Oxford Police Department is also providing a special service on Saturday. “Join us Saturday for free car seat inspections,” the OPD said.
