Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, April 22 – 24
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 23 suspicious activities, 14 alarms, 14 disturbances, eight illegally parked cars, seven ambulance assists, seven reports of lost property, six reported careless drivers, five malicious mischief, four noise violations, four motorist assists, three petit larcenies, three reported public intoxication, two animal complaints, two fire department assists, two simple assaults, two residential burglaries at Olive Branch and North 14th Street, harassing phone calls, a trespassing, a littering, a welfare concern, a false pretense, a scam, a shoplifting and a civil matter.
Oxford police investigated 18 wrecks, issued 69 traffic citations and made — arrests on the following charges:

DUI (Wreck)
Noise violation
Possession of fake ID
Public Intoxication and fake ID
Failure to comply and public intoxication
Harassing a service animal and failure to comply
Trespassing, public intoxication, minor in possession and fake ID
Speeding, ran a stop sign, no driver’s license and failure to comply
Shoplifting, no driver’s license, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI
Leaving the scene of an accident, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI (Wreck)
Disturbing the peace, public intoxication, failure to comply and possession of drug paraphernalia
Public intoxication, possession of Schedule I and IV narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia
University police responded to the following incidents:
Friday, April 22
(3) Public drunks at Powers Hall, Poole Drive and Bishop Hall
Vehicle stop on Hill Drive
Intoxicated person at Old Athletics building
Intoxicated person at Alpha Tau Omega house following a report of a simple assault with a medical call for an ambulance
Saturday, April 23

Service call for an ambulance at Residential Hall 1
Intoxicated person at Stewart Hall
Possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia in Fraternity Alley
Sunday, April 24

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Friday, April 22
Waterflow alarm at 5:14 a.m. caused by an air pressure malfunction at East Side Rebel Club
People stuck on an elevator at 7:09 a.m. at Baptist Memorial Hospital
Truck fire at 6:11 p.m. caused by the brake rotor area in a Ford F150 and the fire went out upon arrival at 351 University Avenue
Cancelled call enroute at 6:33 p.m. to 113 CR 1037
Emergency medical services assist at 10:14 p.m. with a patient lift at 108 Nelson Circle
Saturday, April 23
Smoke detector malfunction at 12:55 p.m. and the University police had to be called to get one resident to leave the dining room at Alpha Tau Omega house
Medical assist at 10:53 p.m. due to a fight in the parking lot at Texaco located at 2018 University Avenue
Sunday, April 24
Smoke detector activation at 8:13 a.m. caused by cooking at 109 Pinecrest
Smoke detector activation at 9:18 a.m. caused by first base concession stand’s cooking at Swayze Field
Smoke detector activation at 9:43 a.m. caused by cooking and the vent-a-hood not working at 109 Pinecrest
Smoke detector activation at 4:14 p.m. caused by cooking at 802 Old Taylor Road
