Demario Carter – Domestic Violence: Aggravated Assault

On Wednesday, April 20, Oxford police investigators served an arrest warrant to Demario Martinez Carter (28 of Cleveland) with Domestic Violence Aggravated Assault {97-3-7(3)}. This warrant stems from an incident on Tuesday, April 19 where officers responded to an emergency call that reported a male who would not leave a female’s home at 13 Pea Ridge Road. Upon arrival, the officers spoke to the victim who claimed that Carter strangled her until it was hard for her to breathe. After Carter’s arrest, the victim signed a felony affidavit on Carter. He was then booked on Domestic Violence Aggravated Assault {97-3-7(3)} and his bond was set at $2,500.

Oxford police responded to the following calls: four suspicious activities, two simple assaults, two noise violations, two malicious mischief, two phone harassment, a fire department assist, a scam, a grand larceny, an improper parking, a code violation, a 911 hang up call, a motorist assist, a petit larceny and an alarm.

Oxford police investigated five wrecks, issued 32 traffic citations and made three arrests on the following charges:
No driver’s license (wreck)
No headlight, no insurance and DUI
Speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia

University police responded to the following incidents: nine vehicle stops with one moving violation for speeding with an unusable driver’s license on the Intramural Field Road.

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Smoke detector activation at 9:08 a.m. by a shower steam at Alpha Omicron Pi house
Smoke detector malfunction at 5:47 p.m. at North Residential College
Smoke detector activation at 11:09 p.m. by a smoke machine at the Rowdy Rebs, a new bar on the Square
