Ole Miss Spring Concert To Feature NEEDTOBREATHE, Mat Kearney on April 24
On Sunday, April 24, the Ole Miss Student Activities Association will present the annual spring concert. Headlining this year’s event will be NEEDTOBREATHE with special guest, Mat Kearney. The performance will take place on the Grove stage at 5 p.m. and will be free admission for everyone.
The Student Activities Association Executive Director, Christian Schlogel, said, “Our goal is to provide students at the University of Mississippi, as well as residents of the Oxford community, with a great experience. The Student Activities Association exists to serve students by sponsoring fun and entertaining events. Our annual spring concert is a great opportunity for people to come out and enjoy a Sunday afternoon in The Grove with some great live music. We are very excited for Sunday the 24th!”
The concert will follow Double Decker weekend, which ends Saturday, April 23 and the Ole Miss baseball game at 1 p.m. against Auburn on Sunday.
NEEDTOBREATHE is a Christian rock band from Seneca, South Carolina. To date, they have five albums released and their anticipated new album “Hard Love” will be available for purchase on July 15. The band will kick off the “Tour de Compadres” on August 17 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Performers such as Mat Kearney, John Mark McMillan, Parachute and Welshy Arms will accompany NEEDTOBREATHE on their national tour, which will be stopping in 53 cities across the country.
Schlogel adds, “The executive council of SAA chose NEEDTOBREATHE. NEEDTOBREATHE is a band whose music Ole Miss students love listening to. Additionally, the band’s sound fits the springtime Grove atmosphere we want to create.”
Mat Kearney is a Nashville-based “beat-driven singer-songwriter” whose music falls under a variety of genres. He has created rap, pop, rock and folk songs. Kearney has released five albums since 2004 and has had five of his hit songs recognized on the Adult Top 40 Chart.
