Oxford Crime Report: Thursday, March 31
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: five suspicious activities, five alarms, four scams, three careless drivers, three harassing phone calls, two disturbances, two fire department assists, two malicious mischief, a motorist assist, a false pretense, an animal complaint, a 911 hang up call, a credit card fraud, a simple assault, a welfare concern and an embezzlement.
Oxford police investigated six wrecks, issued 31 traffic citations and made — arrests on the following charges:
(3) Public intoxication
Speeding and DUI
Careless driving and DUI
Possession of Schedule I narcotics
No headlights, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI and possession of Schedule I narcotics
Ran red light, possession of Schedule II narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI
University police responded to the following incidents: one vehicle stop at V.B. Harrison Health Center, warrant preparation at Lafayette County Justice Court, accidental hit and run in Women’s Terrance Lot, vehicle accident at Old Athletics building, report of a suspicious person in the Grove and a disturbance at the Ole Miss Union.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Hallway smoke detector malfunction at 1:27 p.m. at 207 St. Andrews Circle
Smoke detector activation at 4:08 p.m. at Captain D’s
Smoke detector activation at 4:49 p.m. due to burned popcorn at Innovation Hub on University of Mississippi campus
Medical assist at 5:20 p.m. due to no ambulance being available at Old Venice Pizza.
