Getting Close: Miss-I-Sippin’ Beer Festival Just Hours Away – Tickets Still Available
Deviating from a path it blazed years ago, The Yoknapatawpha Arts Council (YAC) is shaking things up at one of Oxford’s favorite annual festivals this year; Miss-I-Sippin’ – the official craft beer festival of the Mississippi Brewers Guild.
Unlike other Miss-I-Sippin’ festivals YAC has hosted, this year’s event touts two days of entertainment, food and drink for participants to enjoy.
The 2-day event starts tonight (Friday, April 1) with a Brewer’s Dinner at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center. Interested patrons can still purchase tickets online (OxfordArts.com) where, upon purchase, they can select dinner seating from seven different breweries that make up the Mississippi Brewers Guild.
Wayne Andrews, Executive Director of YAC, said “brewers will bring a limited edition beer for their table and promotional items will be provided to guests that attend the night’s festivities.”Tonight’s festivities are set to begin at 6 with music provided by Oxford’s own Jimmy Phillips. Dinner begins at 6:30 and the rest (as they say) will be proverbial craft brew history.
The embedded video (top) and photos give a quick glimpse of how the dining room (theater) is shaping up for tonight’s festivities… complete with huge disco ball dominating the ceiling. Who knows? Maybe Jimmy has changed genres from classic folk/country/rock to disco. Only time will tell. Check out the music video below of Phillips and Oxford’s “old” Mayhem String Band performing at Music in the Hall a few years ago. Give it a listen and decide for yourself.
